I’ve been coming to this steel surplus yard for many years and have always appreciated the selection and prices. However, during my last three visits, I’ve been served by the same employee whose attitude and professionalism have been disappointing. She consistently ignores customers’ presence, doesn’t greet or thank you after a purchase, and dismisses any questions you try to ask. Her demeanor comes across as rude and uninterested, which creates a very uncomfortable experience — especially for regular customers like myself. During my most recent visit, I politely asked for her name several times so I could share feedback with management, but she completely ignored my requests. This kind of service does not reflect well on the business, and I hope the owners take notice and address this issue. I’m referring to a short , maybe Cuban blonde hair lady whose name I don’t know as she refuses to share her name.

They have the lowest price in town so the metal sells itself. As a result, they do not have to maintain a professional appearance or attitude. Imagine the DMV and Pick-u-Part had a baby. No one seems to manage the traffic in the yard and everyone is angry, workers, customers, and the poor ladies in the dustbowl office have to take the brunt of all the customer's frustrations. I am certain they are not paid commission, so the clerks, managers, owners and yard personnel could care less if you just drive away because there will be 10 more customers lined up down the frontage road of 69 waiting to get in the gate to get their dose of abuse. God forbid you get stuck in the one-way yard only to discover their single method of processing credit cards is down, so you better get a quote on the phone the day before and be sure to bring cash just in case. The materials are pretty much the same as any of the Chinesium coils that can be found at any of the other 50+ higher priced places that form panels in town. They do so much volume that they likely get the coils cheaper in bulk hence the lower price offerings. One other advantage is that many of the other places only offer 26 gauged and some only R-panel, where Steel Surplus offers pretty much all panel types. Last thing, they advertise all over FB Marketplace. They seem to keep with the linear foot pricing for panels as advertised, but the pricing on trim listed in their marketplace ads is apparently for what ever is already formed and lying in the yard. For example it may say 10ft J-trim $12 but if you ask for some in a specific color its $35 a stick. For new stuff you want to go to yard #4 and enter the gate at Riner street. To dig through used stuff go to yard #2. Be prepared to speak Spanish at yard #2 as there may be no one that speaks fluent English.

This place is absolute garbage buyers beware! Prices are great but you run a risk of getting scammed like me. I arrived at 12pm and I didnt leave until 7pm that night I never complained or fussed once. I spent over $10,000 in material to get home the next day at day light to find out half of my sheet metal is this green colored material. I called the owner Roger to tell him my concern and he didnt give two craps what I had to say and refused to let me exchange the material. Extremely bad business! I'll be happy when these scammers and crooks close down!!!!

If you go there, expect to spend the whole day there. Got there 30 minutes before they open was second in line to have panels cut and was there six hours. When I complained, the guy said he was the supervisor and owner and if I didn’t like it, I could get my money back. Very rude and unprofessional. Not to mention nobody spoke English so it’s hard to communicate so I got my money back. Anybody that acts that way doesn’t deserve my business and I will never spend money there.
